Whats New for 2011? 2011 Season | 2012 Official Rulebook | Draft Leagues

When will the 2011 season Board version player card set be released?
The pre-order process for the new upcoming 2011 season release  is starting earlier this year because of the changes in offerings for the new upcoming season set.  The 2011 season player card set is now available for pre-order at the Ticket Window with the first season player card sets shipping out on a first-in first-out basis starting in November.  Everyone who pre-orders the 2011 season will also receive a special World Series player card set via email to pre-play the 2011 World Series.

2011 season Ball Park charts
For the first time in a long time there were no new ball parks in 2011, but some new updated ball park photos were added to the 2011 ball park charts.

When will the 2011 season player cards be available for the Online version?
Once again, DYNASTY League Baseball Online players will be the first to get the new 2011 season within 24 hours of the final player ratings being completed.

When will the new continuous Public and Private Draft Leagues and live draft room be available?

DYNASTY League Baseball Online live draft room

The plan is to have both Private and Public continuous draft leagues ready before the start of Spring Training 2012.  You will be able to test the new live draft room and also try out a demo draft league.

What about the Windows version?
The biggest change this year is that there will be not be a 2011 season available for the Windows version or any other future season player card sets or upgrades.  Windows 7 64 bit OS now has a very significant market share and the old 16 bit architecture that the Windows version was developed in will not run on 64 bit OS.  All Windows version game players are being migrated to the new DYNASTY League Baseball Online version which not only runs on all the new 64 bit OS, but also is one of the rare Baseball simulations on Apple Mac OS.  Dan Mintz and I would like to thank all the loyal Windows version players and we hope you have had a chance to try out the incredible new Online version that Jamie Hall has developed.

As part of our Windows version fan appreciation there have been several introductory $20 off coupon offers for DYNASTY League Baseball Online that you can take advantage of found in the DYNASTY League Baseball email newsletter or DYNASTY League Baseball Facebook Fan page.

The most current $20 introductory coupon code is Win11 that can be entered when you create an account and sign up for a six month subscription.  The amount you would have paid for the current Windows season CD for your league is about the same amount as being in a six month league for DYNASTY League Baseball Online except you have access to the entire library of DYNASTY League Baseball seasons – not just one season.  You also can play in Greatest Team bracket tournaments, leagues and play “Series” solitaire vs. the computer manager or with a friend.  The Win11 coupon expires August 15, 2011.

Which 2011 season version should I get if I am in a mixed Board version and Windows league?
If you are in a mixed league you have come to a fork in the road and need to decide to either use the Board version or Online version.  It has to be one or the other not both.   If you are a larger mixed league one idea that some other DYNASTY League Baseball leagues have done is to split your league into an AL and NL with one league playing the Board version and the other the Online version.  The Pennant winners from the AL and NL then would meet in the World Series just as baseball was played for most of it’s history.  There would be no other interleague play.  You could play the World Series with either the Board version or Online version.

There will be new “tools” released for the Online version that will enable Private leagues to enter your existing team rosters, salaries and contracts.  If you have any questions about migrating your league there will be much more information coming on both Public and Private continuous draft leagues.  If you have any specific questions you can email us at support@designdepot.com and we will help you out.

What if I only want to play solitaire with DYNASTY League Baseball Online?

Well you can. Right now you can play “Series” vs. the new computer manager with any of the teams from the complete library of DYNASTY League Baseball seasons.  Having said that, I think you are really missing out on some great fun by not trying the multi-player Greatest Team bracket tournaments and leagues as well as the upcoming multi-player Draft leagues.

Updated 2012 DYNASTY League Baseball Official Rulebook
There will be a new Official Rulebook released soon that will include some new rules that were previously only listed at the Q&A link.  League rules have also been revised and updated for the new Online version.  Everyone will be able to download the new 2012 Official Rulebook as a PDF file.

10 Reasons why Greatest Team leagues are a valuable Baseball learning experience for young and old

New to Pursue the Pennant and it’s successor DYNASTY League Baseball?  DYNASTY League Baseball is an extremely realistic Baseball simulation game that has it’s roots in the original Pursue the Pennant board game that debuted in 1985 and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Hobby Games of the last 50 years.

In the DYNASTY League Baseball Online Greatest Teams leagues you will choose from one of 76 of the Greatest Teams in Baseball history and then Manage your team in a 12 team league that is divided up into  AL and NL Divisions of 6 teams.

1) You will have fun learning Baseball history
Instead of reading about Baseball history in the process of managing your team and playing other great teams you will learn who the great historical players were and why they were so great because you are playing against the likes of Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Stever Carlton, Tom Seaver and Dizzy Dean.

2) You will learn how Major League scouts evaluate a players “baseball tools” and the strengths and weaknesses of the greatest baseball players of All-Time.

3) You will learn offensive strategies by managing real MLB players.
When should you steal, hit and run, take the extra base, pinch hit, pinch run, sacrifice bunt and suicide squeeze?  What is the best lineup and batting order for my team?  When should I platoon vs. left-handed and right-handed pitchers and with which players?

4) You will learn defensive strategies by managing real MLB players.
When should you warm-up a relief pitcher, bring in a relief pitcher, bring in a defensive replacement, throw through or cut-off a throw, bring the infield in, set the infield corners in or call for the intentional walk?  What is the best pitching rotation for my team?

5) You will learn which Major League ball parks are hitters or pitchers parks and the various outfield and foul territory dimensions.
As you play out your season you will be playing in historical ball parks from every era in Baseball history.

6) You will learn how a players fielding range, fielding percentage, throwing arm, double play pivot and catcher’s handling of pitchers effects various plays.

7) You will learn how power hitters, contact hitters, high on base hitters, clutch hitters, spray and pull hitters effect each at bat.

8) You will learn how control pitchers, ground ball pitchers, fly ball pitchers, strikeout pitchers, pitchers who rarely walk the lead off batter, pitchers who rarely give up HR with runners on base and pitchers who are tough in jams effect each plate appearance.

9) You will learn how fast and slow basestealers, baserunners with good and bad instincts effect steal attempts and taking the extra base.  You will also learn how important both a pitchers ability to hold baserunners and catchers and outfielders throwing arms are.

10) You will learn about Baseball statistics and why they are important in evaluating players and making managerial decisions.
Do you know what OBP and SLG are,  how they are calculated and why they are one of the best offensive indicators?  Baseball is more than just physical tools it is a cerebral sport where at times the smartest teams and players can beat a more physically talented team.
